Hybrid but Human
Writer, creator, director, performer, editor, and researcher (UCT & online, 2021)
Hybrid but Human: toward a digital dramaturgy is a meditation on gathering, intimacy and making live performance work in the age of digitality. The telematic performance is a result of an experimental online process between Shameelah Khan (JHB), Geoffrey Diver (MP), and myself (CPT) in November of 2021.
It is a self-reflexive intermedial live performance about making live performance at a physical distance from one another, yet how we continue to gather and relentlessly make work through the screen. The thematic core of the project is an extension of the investigations initiated in the zine exhibition with Hlabi Moetanalo: How do we touch without touching? How to we gather without gathering? How do we invite spontaneous and perhaps kinetic reciprocity over a digital platform?
